In refractive surgery, equipment is by far the most expensive single item. An excimer laser and a femtosecond laser together cost as much as a condominium—and this investment is factored into the price of every single treatment at every provider.
We operate out of an established laser eye surgery center in Vienna that already has the necessary equipment. We didn’t have to buy anything, and we don’t have to pay off any loans.
That’s the whole trick—and it’s not a trick at all. You’ll be treated using the same SCHWIND ATOS and the same SCHWIND Amaris 1050 RS that are also used for procedures in the higher price range. We don’t skimp on technology—it’s simply already paid for.
Three things that further reduce costs
Two Procedures Instead of Ten
Less complexity
- Only Femto-LASIK and Trans-PRK—no lens replacement, no special lenses, no presbyopia correction.
- Fewer devices, less setup time, less inventory.
- And more routine: Doing two things every day is different from doing ten things occasionally.
A Specialized Surgeon
Focus Rather Than Breadth
- Our surgical team consists of Dr. Todor Toschkov and OA Dr. Mario Kneifl, both board-certified specialists in ophthalmology and optometry.
- Dr. Victor Derhartunian, FEBO, serves as our medical director.
- A small, dedicated team for two procedures—not a large network of specialists covering ten indications that requires shared funding.

What You Don’t Pay For With Us
A price quote without a breakdown isn’t a price quote. Here’s what’s intentionally not included in the €990 price—so you know upfront and don’t find out later.
✓We don’t skimp on this
- Laser technology. SCHWIND ATOS for the flap, Amaris 1050 RS for ablation.
- The preliminary examination. Approximately 60 minutes of diagnostics, regardless of whether surgery is ultimately performed.
- Indications. We treat patients exclusively within the KRC application range; never in borderline cases.
- Flap creation. Exclusively femtosecond lasers; no mechanical microkeratome.
- Hygiene and Sterility. Standards of a licensed outpatient clinic.
- Follow-up visits during the healing phase. All appointments during the first three months are included.
✕You won’t getthathere
- Follow-up care beyond the healing phase. Starting in month four, each checkup costs €80. If you’re looking for comprehensive, long-term care, you’re better off with a premium plan.
- The full range of procedures. If neither of our two procedures is a good fit, we can’t offer you anything else—but we’ll let you know what other options might be available.
- Free choice of surgeon. Who performs your surgery is determined by your appointment schedule—you can’t choose.
- Treatment in a gray area. Even if other clinics would perform it.
That’s the honest trade-off: You get the same technology and the same treatment criteria as in the higher price range—but in exchange, you get a more limited range of services, a shorter period of included care, and no choice of surgeon. If any of these points are important to you, let us know. In that case, another provider is the right choice for you, and we’ll let you know.

No additional charges for higher diopter values, no additional charges for more complex procedures. If the preliminary examination shows that we cannot perform the treatment, you will not be charged for the procedure—the examination itself is billed regardless of the outcome, and you will receive an invoice to submit to your health insurance provider.
